Description
In the 17th century the gaff sail appears to have superseded the Spirit Sail on Dutch, English and Swedish yachts. By the end of the 19th century it became nearly universal on both pleasure and work boats of all sizes particularly in North America. Hull has square stern with bottom cut away aft.
